Maintain Chinese exposure over the summer
with science, math, arts, and crafts activities.

Go to Hanwen Camp Registration

WHY?

We aim to help children have fun over the summer while practicing Mandarin Chinese through engaging activities.
Our goal is to provide a safe, educational, and fun environment where children can learn Chinese while doing typical summer camp activities.

WHAT?

Campers engage in each week’s theme through hands-on activities like cooking, science, math, art and crafts. Children get into the habit of using and speaking Chinese by interacting with our Chinese-speaking teachers throughout the day. Children also learn vocabulary related to each week’s themes and activities.

  • MORNING ACTIVITY – morning exercise and mental games/puzzles
  • MID-MORNING ACTIVITY – campers prepare and cook their own lunch
  • LUNCH TIME – campers enjoy lunch and clean up “dining space” (and wash dishes in cooking camp)
  • AFTERNOON ACTIVITY – time for natural science experiments and arts/crafts

WHO?

Children ages 5-11 (Grade 1 ~ Grade 5 in 2025-2026 school year)
who already understand and speak Mandarin Chinese.

MINIMUM LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

Children should be able to actively listen & speak Chinese at home, or have attended a Mandarin immersion preschool or elementary school or rigorous Chinese After-School program.

Children with no Chinese language background will not enjoy our camps
as they do not have enough language comprehension.

Rising Kindergarten students with no Chinese language exposure
are not suitable for our summer camp.

There is a 4-day camp during week of June 30 – July 3 (Friday July 4 is closed)

Camp Descriptions

Learn more about our summer camp activities below.

All camps are taught in Chinese by native Chinese speakers.

When necessary, teachers will use English to help children understand the Chinese instructions and vocabulary. However, your child should have adequate Mandarin Chinese listening comprehension.

Little Chefs Camps (小廚師)

This camp teaches children how to prepare different foods in Chinese cuisine.

  • Every day, children are introduced to food and snack recipes they prepare for the day.
    • In the morning, students help prepare and cook food for their lunch meals.
    • For lunch, students eat lunch and help with cleanup of dishes and cooking space.
    • In the afternoon, they will help prepare their afternoon dessert/snacks.
  • Learn the Chinese vocabulary associated with the recipe and ingredients.

Campers will eat the lunch and dessert/snacks that they themselves prepared.

If your child has any special dietary needs, please inform us and/or
prepare a separate lunch meal for your child.

Materials Fee: $50 – fee covers cost of food and desserts children will make and eat.
